Many years ago I joined the St. James family as both an administrator and a parent, which has afforded me the opportunity to dive deeply into the ministry of Catholic education. As I moved from the position of Guidance Counselor to Assistant Principal, and finally to my current role as Principal, I have been blessed to witness God’s love manifested not only in my own life and that of my children, but in every child who walks the halls of this campus.
St. James Cathedral School is truly a special place. What began in 1928 as a school run solely by priests and nuns, has flourished into a nationally-recognized educational institution with highly-qualified and accredited faculty members serving children in grades Preschool through 8th. Our teachers truly see their profession as a ministry and this is evident in all that they do for their students. In our 90 plus years serving Central Florida families, our school continues to be an example of academic and spiritual excellence, partnering with families from over 27 zip codes in our beautiful downtown Orlando location. Though the classroom layouts and technology have changed, the love and sharing of our Catholic faith have remained constant and vibrant.
A glimpse inside one of our classrooms will illuminate the small group, hands-on, and collaborative approach at the heart of instruction in all grades. Our students develop 21st-century skills needed to be successful in their future endeavors including critical thinking, the ability to synthesize and apply knowledge, strong communication skills, moral character, and a deep sense of faith to guide them on their journey.
Here at SJCS, we serve the whole child, addressing each child’s needs spiritually, socially and emotionally, as well as academically. As a parent who knows the sacrifices made to provide a Catholic education, please know it will always be the best decision that was made by our family. Catholic education is a lifelong investment. I can promise you it will be the best gift that you can give to your child and family. I look forward to you and your child(ren) joining our SJCS family.
